This Indenture made the twenty-third day of
July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty-three,
between John Downey and Susannah Downey both of the County of Dearborn and
State of Indiana of the first part and Job Edwards of the County of Hamilton
and State of Ohio of the second part. Witnesseth that whereas on or about the
twenty first day of March in the year Eighteen hundred and eight-teen the said
party of the first part conveyed by deed in fee simple to (J___) Nelson,
Barnabas Niles and (__) Stevens and their Successors as Trustees of the
Methodist Episcopal Church of Columbia Township, in Said County of Hamilton,
Ohio for a Meeting house and Burial grounds Lot or either of them, the
following lot or parcel of ground to wit: All that certain Lot of ground lying
and being in the County of Hamilton, State of Ohio, to wit. One fourth of an
acre in the thirty second Section fourth Township and Second fractional Range
of the Miami Purchase Beginning in the West line of a twenty seven and nine-tenths
acre tract conveyed by the grantors to John (Bruce or Rance) by deed bearing
date about the date last aforesaid and recorded Book R.2 page 32 of the Records
of said County. Thence with the South line of the County Road North eighty four
and one fourth degrees East one chain and fifty eight links, thence South one
chain fifty eight links thence South eighty four and one fourth degrees West
one chain and fifty eight links to the West line of said twenty seven and nine
tenth acre tract. Thence North one chain and fifty eight links to the place of
beginning for the only use and purpose of occupying the same as a Burial ground
and Meeting house Lot for the Methodist Episcopal Church of Columbia Township
aforesaid. And Whereas the deed made by the grantor as aforesaid to said
Trustees has been lost or destroyed without ever having been recorded, and the
Trustees of said Church have all long since died and there are none now in
being to whom to make another Deed confirming the title of said Church to said
Lot, and whereas the said Lot has been used as a Burying place and many persons
have already been buried on the same, and whereas it is desirable that the same
should continue to be a Meeting house lot and a place for Burying the dead for
all time to come and for no other purpose. Therefor to (___) to the said Church
the said Lot for the purpose aforesaid and in which the said Grantors (__) to
me (__) the said Job Edwards. The said John and (___) given granted conveyed
and confirmed and by these grant convey and confirm to the said Job Edwards and
his heirs and assignees forever all the above described Lot of land with the
appurtenances thereunto belonging in Trust for the uses and purposes said--That
is to say to permit and allow the said Methodist Episcopal Church of Columbia
Township to use, occupy and enjoy the same as a Burying ground or for a Meeting
house Lot or Both at their pleasure and if (Trustees) again should be appointed
for said (___) then the said Edwards shall in all things relating to said Lot
be governed and controlled by said Trustees. It is intended by the grantors
that the said Edwards shall not take any beneficial interest in said Lot, but
shall hold the same as a mere Trustee for the uses aforesaid. In Witness
whereof the said grantors have hereunto set their hands and seals this day and
year first above written.

Before me A.C. Downey, as Notary Public by authority of Law duly appointed and
qualified personally appeared the above named grantors and acknowledged the
signing and sealing of the above deed to be their voluntary act and (_-) for
the purposes therein set forth and the said Susannah has (___) the same time
examined separate and apart from her said husband and the full content of said
deed made known to her by me. She did then and there declare that the Signed
and Sealed be (___) as her act and deed and that she is still content with the
same.
