In the Names of God, Amen. The Seventh Day of
December in the Year of our Lord Christ Anno Dom. One thousand seven hundred
seventy one 1771. I Daniel Mulford of the County of Essex and Province of East
Jersey Carpenter being very sick and weak of Body but of Perfect mind and
memory thanks be given to God, therefore calling to mind the mortality of my
Body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do therefore make
this my Last Will & Testament in manner and form following That is to say
Principally and first of all I surrender and
Commit my Soul in the hands of God that gave it and as touching my Body I
recommend it to the Earth to be Buried in a Christian-like decent manner at the
discretion of Executors hereafter Named Nothing doubting but at the General
Resurrection I shall Receive the same again by the almighty Power of God and as
for such Worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God of his goodness to Bless
me in this life, I give, devise and Bequeath as followeth
First: My Will is and is hereby declared to
be that all my Just and Lawful debts be paid out of my Estate. Imprimis I give
and bequeath unto my beloved wife Doritey for her Right of Dower all and
singular those Goods and Chattels which her honoured father has gave to her or
me and my Will is that my said wife shall have the use or Interest of the
remaining Part of my Estate twelve years in Consideration of her Bringing up my
Child that she now is Big with with the Condition that she remain my Widow so
long But if she should Marry any time before the twelve years be Expired that
then and in that case she shall not have any demand to the use nor Interest of
my Estate any longer then the time of her marrying. Item - my Will is that my
Executors shall make Sale of all my Estate both Real land Personal excepting
that which is gave to my wife that came from her father And I do hereby appoint
and Constitute my Executors Guardians for my child above said which is not Born
both for its Person and Estate, and my Will is that if my said child should die
before it should arrive to full age - that then and in that case all my Estate
so bequeathed to that Child shall be Equally divided amongst all my brothers
and sisters And I do hereby make and Constitute my honored father Jeremiah
Mulford and my honored father in Law Thomas Denman Executors of this my Last
Will and Testament Revoking and disannulling all former or other Wills,
Testaments, and Legacies heretofore by me made or done. Rattifying allowing
this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament - In Witness whereof I have
hereunto set my hand and Seal the day above written.

Joseph Budd and James Black two of the
Witnesses to the within Will being duly Sworn on the Holy Evangelist of
Almighty God did severally depose that they saw Daniel Mulford the Testator
within named sign and seal this same and heard him publish pronounce and
declare the within Instrument to be his Last Will and Testament and that at the
doing thereof the said Testator was of sound & disposing mind and memory as
far as these deponents knew and as they verily Believe and John Stites Esq. The
other Subscribing Witness was Present and is agreed his name as a Witness to
the said Will together with these deponents in the Presence of the said
Testator
