bullet  General Notes:

Notes from Katie Jablonicky:

June 18, 1903 Bulletin-Journal, Brandon
"Arzilla Jackson Gallaher was born in Ohio, Sept. 30, 1863, and died in Brandon, June 9. With her parents she came to Iowa when 15 years of age. She was married to Irwin Gallaher in 1884. To them were born two children, Roy, who is left to mourn a mother's loss, and Mattie, deceased. Two years ago that dread disease, tuberculosis, developed. It was persistently fought by skill, love, the husband taking her to Calif. in the hopes the climate would bring back the former good health. But all was in vain, and this spring they returned to the parental home in Brandon to do what could be done to make her last days comfortable. Here, among members of her own and husband's families and a community of friends, she patiently suffered and endured until the end came. Mrs. Gallaher was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Independence, and of the Royal Neighbors of Brandon camp. She died in the triumphs of the Christian faith, and was followed to her tomb by a delegation of Royal Neighbors and very large concourse of sympathizing friends. The funeral occurred June 11, conducted by Rev. Smith, of the Methodist church, assisted by Rev. Stockhart, of the Disciple church...Brandon, June 6, J.S."

Medical: Arzilla died of tuberculosis at age 39
She married Irvin Gallaher, son of Elijah H. Gallaher & Elizabeth C. Kane, 17 Sep 1884 in Buchanon Co, IA. Born 1862. Died 1951. Buried in Brandon Cem, Buchanan Co, IA.
Elija Gallaher, father of Irvin, came to Iowa as a single man with the same party of Naomi Anderson Elliott and Nancy Anderson Ferguson. Jackson states "John Henry Ferguson and his wife, Nancy Anderson Bunton Ferguson migrated from Boone County, State of Indiana, in the spring of 1853 and with them came the Uncle Wilson Elliott family of Lime Creek, Iowa; also Elijah Galiher and John Rogers. The last two were both single men."
An 1886 plat map of Jefferson Township, Buchanan Co, IA, shows J. W. Bunton living in Section 36, E. H. Gallagher in Section 25, W. H. Elliott with 200 acres in Sections 12 & 13, and Robert H. Elliott in Section 12. As mentioned under William Anderson, William and Robert Anderson are shown as neighbors to John Bunton on the 1880 Federal Census for Buchanan Co, Iowa.

They had the following children:

22 i. Mattie Gallaher
23 ii. Roy Gallaher
