Alpine City, Utah: November 18, 1957, a board of adjustments consisting of Van Vance, Grant Terry, Elwood Drew, LeGay Beck and Vernon Shepherd was appointed to consider individual's differences with the planning board and zoning commission. The board could make recommendations, however the city council had the final word on any decision.

Elwood was two months premature. Thinking he would die, the mid-wife put him in a shoe box on the open oven door of the wood stove in the kitchen and took care of his mother instead of the baby.

Elwood Drew Succumbs of Long Illness

Orem -- Elwood Drew, 62, 853 Memo Drive, Orem, a foreman at Utah Power & Light Company, died Sunday at the Utah Valley Hospital of a lingering illness.
He was born Sept. 14, 1907, in Alpine, a son of Charles and Elizabeth Bennett Drew. He married Aleta Huggard on Jun 20, 1928 in Salt Lake City. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.
Active in the LDS Church, Mr. Drew had served as a priest quorum advisor and general secretary of the Aaronic Adult group in his ward. He had also served as a home teacher.
Mr. Drew had served as a member and director of the Lions Club, and his hobbies included bowling.
At the time of his death, he was employed as a foreman for the line crew at the Utah Power and Light Company. He had worked there for the past 26 years.
Surviving are his widow of Orem; four sons and one daughter, Robert Elwood Drew, American Fork; Stanley D. Drew, Pocatello, Ida.; Lee R. Drew, Orem, and LaMar H. Drew and Mrs. Elroy (Dorothy) Loveridge, both of Alpine; 18 grandchildren and one brother and one sister, Robert Drew, Provo, and Mrs. Lynn (Golda) Adams, Orem.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Orem LDS Seventh Ward Chapel, 1090 N. 4th E., Orem. Friends may call Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Anderson and Sons Mortuary, 49 E. 100 N., American Fork, and Wednesday at the ward chapel two hours prior to the services. Burial will be in the Alpine City Cemetery.

Elwood died in the Utah Valley Regional Hospital in Provo, Utah. He had a detailed verbal conversation with his deceased parents during most of the night before he passed into the Spirit World. His son, Lee Drew, who sat by him in the hospital room, heard his side of the conversation.
