Mrs. Eliza Logie Bennett

Midnight Tuesday the Reaper claimed Mrs. Eliza Logie Bennett of Fort Canyon, who has been a patient sufferer this past ten years. Mrs. Bennett who was bedfast, insisted upon her husband attending the funeral of her mother, which was held Tuesday, she feeling as well as usual when he left. Later she lapsed into unconsciousness and remained so until the end. The cause of her death was leakage of the heart and dropsy, and was not altogether unexpected.

Eliza Logie Bennett was born in American Fork, December 21, 1863. She was the fifth child of Charles J. G. and Rosa Logie. Her early life was spent in American Fork. In 1883 she married David Wellington Bennett of Norway, Kansas, where they lived for one year, later moving to Benedict, Nebraska.

In 1891 they returned to Utah, where they have resided ever since having made their home in Mercur for the last fifteen years. Within the present year the family moved to Fort Canyon, near Alpine.

Mrs. Bennett is survived by her husband and five children, as follows: Mrs. George Wilson of Garfield, Utah; Mrs. Ida Stewart and Elbert C. Bennett of Mercur, and Bertha Bennett and Dewey Bennett of Alpine.

The funeral services were held Thursday at 2 o'clock in the Alpine Ward meetinghouse.

(The above report of her death appeared in the American Fork Citizen, Saturday, June 21, 1913)
