Obituary for " Mrs. N. A. Anderson" "Naoma Anderson Elliott departed this life at the home of her son, R. H. Elliott, August 22, aged eighty years three months and three days. The deceased was born in Ohio, Cincinnati, and in a few years after with her parents, moved to Indiana, where she was married to W. H. Elliott in 1840. The young twain having aspirations for success in the future sought a home in Iowa and located in Buchanan county in 1853 and both have made their homes on a farm on Lime Creek which was entered from the government by Mr. Elliott until his death, about twenty-four years ago. Since that time Mrs. Elliott has made her home with her children. She early began to evince those principles of Christian character which marked her whole life. She united with the Christian church and for a term of forty-two years, she continued a devout member of the same. Her leading characteristic was faithfulness, which was clearly shown in the fact that no circumstances, unless those positively beyond her control, would prevent her attendance at the house of God, or deter her from the discharge of other duties. The last sad rite was performed in the Christian church in Brandon, conducted by Elder Johnson." Naomi and her family migrated to Iowa in 1853 in the company of her sister and brother in law, Nancy and John Ferguson.
