John Collins Mulford

  General Notes:

In his history of Shelby County, Ohio, Hitchcock states that it is recorded that "the Miami Christian Church was organized in 1849 by Rev. James Skillen, and Joseph Warbelton in the home of John Mulford, the first members of the body being John, his brother Amos and their wives. The first church structure for their assembly was erected in Logan County, Ohio. Portions of Logan and Miami counties were originally attached to Shelby County.
John C. Mulford was married in Warren County, Ohio on May 1, 1834 to Ocie Morgan, born January 4, 1818 in New Jersey - died March 20, 1898 in Page County, Iowa. She was the daughter of James Morgan and his wife, whose maiden name was Pierce. John and Ocie (Morgan) Mulford are buried in Franklin Grove Cemetery, Essex Twp., in Page County, Iowa. The 1850 and 1860 Federal census records for Shelby County, Ohio give the following children: (1) Ellizabeth Jane, (2) Eleanor, (3) Henry J., (4) Joseph B., (5) Peter Morgan, (6) Mary Ann, (7) Julia Ann, (9) Meriah,and (10) Emiline.
