Served as a soldier in the Revolutionary War. He was a Captain in the 12th Company in Col. Jonah Smith's Suffolk Company Regiment at the Battle of Long Island. See also N.J. Archives, Vol. 20-Vol.34, p.127 as well. He fought in the Battle of Long Island among others.
