Grace Gertrude Towner was born in Wessington Springs, South Dakota , June 22, 1890. Graduated from Centralia High School. Taught school one term. Married JohnW. Mulford on April 1912. They lived in and around Centralia. They had two daughters. John was killed by a train November 5, 1916. Grace went to business College for six months and went to work. Most of the time in Real Estate and Insurance. Was in the book-keeping dept. of a department store for six years. Had a bad street car accident in 1938 and was in the hospital for 9 months and was two years before able to walk without crutches. Had another accident in 1940 (car) was pretty well battered up again. Got back to work in 1942. Lived in Seattle from February 1924 to October 1954. Her two girls were married in a Double Wedding Ceremony in 1936. Married William Rains in 1946. Took Annie to live with her after her family were all gone from home. Lived together in Seattle for 5 years. Returned tjo Centralia in October 1954.

Grace Towner , Servant , 19 years old , Single and born in Washington, Father born in New York and Mother born in Canada.

Grace G. Towner's Obituary; " A resident of Centralia for 80 years, Mrs. Grace G. [Towner] Rains, 81, died Thursday morning in a Centralia hospital. Mrs. Rains was born June 22, 1890, in South Dakota. She was graduated from Centralia High School in 1911 and also a graduate of the Centralia Business College. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Henry [Elnora] Moore, Cottage Grove, Ore., and Mrs. Lloyd [Leona] Stevens, Sacremento, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Florence Vincent, Centralia, and Mrs. Lilly Schorer, Tacoma; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Newell-Hoerling's Centralia, with the Rev. Harvey Hartling officiating. Interment will be in the Washington Lawn Cemetary, Centralia.
