He assisted in establishing American Independence while in the capacity of Minute Men. He was one of the 2 month men with Capt. Ephraim Cook Rev. Ser. He was a cooper by trade. There is some confusion as to whether events occurred in Prospect, Cheshire or Wallingford, CT due to changing of town limits.
They had eight children of whom Hannah was the sixth child.
Josiah married Hannah Blakeslee on 13 Mar 1783 in Cheshire, New Haven, Connecticut. (Hannah Blakeslee was born in 1762.)
